JULY 30TH: AudioCred Website has published an article written by "Jimmy", that explained Philippines situation such as life, economy, poverty and more.
The author talked about Apldeap and believes he is an example for everybody and asked him a favor.
"I believe there exists a man with the power to infuse Filipino popular music with the anger and consciousness it so desperately needs. I never thought I’d say this, but it makes a funny kind of sense: yes, Black Eyed Peas member Apl De Ap, I’m thinking of you. The Black Eyed Peas are thought to be splitting up, temporarily at least, after their ongoing tour, and you’re going to have a lot of time on your hands. My proposal is this: write and release an album filled with songs that detail why you believe Filipinos should be fed up with the endemic corruption that so cripples their country. Don’t pull any punches. Let it all hang out. There is every reason to be angry at what is happening. Give Filipino youth an example. Let them know they should not settle for the low standards their institutions are giving them. Nobody’s saying you have to be Ninoy Aquino. But as musicians go, there is a difference to be made." said Jimmy.
The article also explained:
"All of these factors make it such that Apl De Ap is in a unique cultural position to infuse Filipino popular culture with the fury it so desperately needs. Unlike conscious filmmakers such as Brillante Mendoza, he is extremely popular in most mainstream sections of the Filipino music world. Though there are others who are presenting the right message, he is one of the only ones who can say what needs to be said, and will be listened to. It is not enough that one draws attention to poverty and corruption – it is necessary to be angry enough to enact meaningful institutional change."
"To borrow a turn of phrase from the great George Lucas: help them, Apl De Ap. You’re their only hope. Get into the swing of things and really demonstrate how completely fed up you expect your countrymen to be, and maybe in good time we’ll start hearing a little less “Ikaw Ang Miss Universe Ng Buhay Ko” (“You are the Miss Universe of my life”) and a little more “Karapat-Dapat Mas Mahusay Naming.” (“We deserve better.”)"
