March 1st: Apldeap, native of Barangay Sapang Bato in Angeles City in Pampanga has already started his education campaign going with the firm commitment to lend time and talent to push the ambitious Project Second Home of the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF).
Project Second Home, improve the state of the country’s education system, aims to construct 10,000 classrooms in two years. According to Cecille Alcantara, LCF president of the Coca-Cola Foundation, the project is “anchored on the vision of providing schoolchildren with a haven where they can build their dreams and aspirations, a second home where parents can entrust their children for learning and development.”
“We thank apl.de.ap for joining us in the education journey,” Alcantara said.
Apl has also launched two of his own projects aimed at improving literacy and developing the musical abilities of the youth. The Music Library will be implemented in partnership with Ayala Foundation, Department of Education, Philippine Development Foundation and the schools he attended in the Philippines before he moved to the United States at 14 years old—Sapang Bato National High School and Holy Angel University (HAU).
HAU, one of the biggest universities in the Philippines, will be home to the apl.de.ap Music Library and Studio.
The idea behind the project is to unleash the musical and technology talents of disadvantaged Filipino youth through the use of the studio, which will be furnished with musical instruments, interactive software programs and other educational materials designed to make learning more dynamic and engaging for students.
Pineda told the Inquirer that he was excited to see these projects through, considering all the success that he has achieved with help from other people.
He is particularly optimistic about the music studio, saying he believes that Filipinos have so much talent that just needs the opportunity to blossom and be recognized.
“Who knows? Maybe someday we will have another Black Eyed Peas,” Pineda said. The library and studio will be accessible for free to the public.
In otherhand, Allan Pineda aka Apldeap became ambassador for education of the iamninoy-iamcory movement of the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation.
