Producer and songwriter Will.I.Am has very focused plans for The E.N.D.,the forthcoming CD by his group Black Eyed Peas. The title of the set stands for "The Energy Never Dies," and much of what is planned for the set flows from that concept. The group's fifth album is due to arrive March 10th on Interscope.
Will says that the components of the songs for the new set have been recorded so that they will be interchangeable and expandable modules for new songs, and that he's worked with software designers to create interactive features for the disc that will include embedded information and more. New features can continually be added and updated for up to one year from the date of release.
Explaining he wants to move away from the traditional concept of an album release, he explained: "So throughout the year or for however long The E.N.D. is active, it's going to be like software, where in March there'll be twelve songs, but March 10th, there could be a hundred songs, fifty sketches, a thousand blogs all around The E.N.D. So the energy never -- it really truly never dies."
The Peas also include Apl.de.Ap, Taboo and Fergie. Their previous CD was 2005's Monkey Business, which sold 4.2 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
