New York, New York and San Francisco, California -Apl.de.Ap one of the original members of the Black Eyed Peas joined Drs. Gloria & Heidi Horsley on their nationally syndicated talk radio program "Healing the Grieving Heart" Feb. 7th, 2009.

Apl's story of growing up in poverty in the Philippines, being adopted at the age of 14 years old through the Pearl S. Buck Foundation, and going on to form the Black Eyed Peas, a musical group that has become a global phenomenon is inspiring. Apl has used his fame to impact thousands of people through his music, the Pearl S. Buck Foundation, and by giving back to impoverished communities in the Philippines," said Dr. Heidi Horsley, Co-Host of Healing the Grieving Heart.

The Black Eyed Peas have transcended their vigilant hip-hop roots and have become a global phenomenon, the likes of which the music world has rarely seen. Apl.de.Ap's life took a tragic turn when his brother Arnel died by suicide. This was a heartbreaking event and Apl.de.Ap explains his life story in a song called "The Apl Song" found on the peas 2003 album Elephunk, and heard on this show. They have sold 7.5 million albums worldwide, won 3 grammy awards and had 7 grammy nominations. Apl.de.ap has recently gone on to write the song "I Cry" as a tribute to his younger brother Arnel, which was heard for the first time on Healing the Grieving Heart.

Apl's life's work—supporting a program of the Pearl S. Buck Foundation for Amerasians is fueled by the conviction that, everyone deserves to have a chance in life and opportunities to succeed. Apl is an example that everyone can rise above adversity and give back to their communities.

"We're excited to bring Apl's story and mission of hope to our audience," this was a very powerful show and one not to be missed, commented Dr. Gloria Horsley

Apl.De.Ap Returns to Stage for Peapod.

The Black Eyed Peas' annual Peapod has become one of the hottest parties of Grammy week, with previous performances featuring the likes of James Brown, Justin Timberlake, Carlos Santana, Pink, and more. And it's an event, which raises money for various charities, that led to the building of the Peas' Peapod Academy, a music school, in Los Angeles.

So it always holds a special place for them. Still, no one expected the Peas' Apl.de.Ap (Allen Pinead Lindo) to join Fergie, Will.I.Am and Taboo at the event, which also featured Slash, Boyz II Men, Bell Biv Devoe, as well as the Peas, moved to the Conga Room. It was only two days ago that Lindo's 24-year-old brother was tragically murdered in their native Phillipines.

But Lindo, who did not join his band mates on the red carpet, was there on stage last night, delivering the trademark energy and enthusiasm Peas' fans have come to expect from the group.

With its history and guests, the Peapod has created a lot of memories for the band, especially Taboo, who told Popeater earlier this week the Peapod directly influenced his wedding last year. "Last year when Boyz II Men sang 'On Bended Knee' it was for me personally the first time that I actually had got the opportunity to speak to them on a one on one basis and I said, 'Hey, I would love for you guys to sing at my wedding on July 12 next year,'" he said. "Because of the Peapod I was able to have Boyz II Men serenade me and my wife while we were dancing at our wedding."

But as Boyz II Men's Shawn Stockman told Popeater before the show, the great memories are mutual. "It was at the Peapod [last year] where we started to get this next level of recognition for Boyz II Men," he said, referring to the hero's welcome the group received at the 2008 show. That response helped cement their return, which they say will now move forward with a new album. Given the Peas' role in their return and Will.I.Am being the hottest producer around at the moment might there be a match? "We would love to have him on the record," Stockman says.

[News] Black Eyed Peas Offer 'Moral Support' to Apl.de.ap after Family Tragedy

Black Eyed Peas Offer 'Moral Support' to Bandmate after Family Tragedy.

With bandmate apl.de.ap still reeling from the murder of his half-brother, Joven Pineda Deala, 21, in the Philippines on Tuesday, the Black Eyed Peas are rallying around him.

"[We're] being there for him, just being his brother – Fergie, she's not his brother but a sister – and guiding him emotionally," will.i.am said Thursday night at the 5th Annual Black Eyed Peas Peapod Foundation Benefit Concert Presented by Adobe Youth Voices in L.A.

"It's tough, it's scary," added will.i.am, 33, noting that the band is "also providing moral support to him and his family."

Peas' keyboardist Taboo, also 33, said the band was also devastated.

"I'm getting choked up, because I had never seen our best friend in that state of pain," he said. "And it really messed me up."

Despite the agonizing loss, apl, 34 [real name: Allan Pineda Lindo], was back onstage to rock out with his band, singing and popping back flips as Fergie shouted, "Work it out, work it out!"

"Apl is such a family guy," said Fergie, 33, offstage, adding that apl's recent loss was particularly cruel in light of his brother Arnel's suicide several years ago. "He had to leave his family at 14. To lose a brother and then lose a second brother – how much more does this guy have to go through?"

The death also gives the group an opportunity to take the Peapod Foundation, which uses music to encourage social change, and bolster their efforts in the Philippines.

"It really gives us more of a purpose, not just domestically but internationally," said will.i.am. "It's really important for us to go back to the Philippines and to take these kids off the street that are involved in crime and stuff like that."
